Moochies Phone Watch for Kids

All About Moochies!

Wondering what Moochies is all about? To start off our new blog, we thought we’d break down what Moochies is and how we started!

In 2014, our COO, Ryan O’Neill, was on holiday with his family on the Gold Coast in Australia. Ryan’s niece, Tallulah, loved to do what all six year olds in shopping centres do — run off! Every parent knows how difficult it can be to keep track of a six year old, especially in a busy shopping centre. Thankfully, Tallulah was safe and sound but after the fright it gave mum and grandma, Ryan started thinking about ways that technology could be used to help with childhood safety.

No stranger to new enterprises, having founded a fashion label previously, Ryan was on a flight from Australia to Hong Kong with the idea for Moochies forming. He knew he wanted something to give Tallulah freedom that also could teach her about phone safety; but also something that her parents could use for peace of mind.

After going through a few different concepts in the early days, Moochies was created and designed for ages five to twelve. It’s simple and portable enough for younger children and robust enough for pre-teens, working as a great stepping stone before a first smartphone.

Nearly seven years later and Moochies hasn’t just expanded its functions and features — now with camera, pedometer, SOS alerts, text and voice messaging — , but countries as well. What started in Australia is now available across the UK and in the US. In 2021, Moochies has plans to make Moochies available in more countries, as well as add in new features and functions.

And seven years later, Tallulah still wears her Moochies all the time!
